Brooks' hat trick boosts Stratford over Brampton, 4-2Powerade Centre Mon, Feb 11, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Mitch Brooks netted a hat trick to lead the Stratford Cullitons over the Brampton Bombers, 4-2. Brooks' first goal came 3:30 into the first period. He then added goals at 18:03 into the second and at 1:09 into the third.Stratford kept Brampton's goalie busy throughout the game, and Bryan Raymond made 32 saves on 36 shots. The Cullitons could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 38 minutes in penalties during the game. Stratford additionally got points from Josh Miller, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Stratford were Dylan Wettlaufer, who had three and Ryan Watson and Jake Pleon, who each chipped in one. The Bombers stifled Stratford's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Brampton was helped by Brady Clouthier, who finished with one goal. Clouthier scored on the power play 1:53 into the second period to make the score 2-2. The Bombers had taken the advantage when the Cullitons' Pleon got sent off for slashing. Brandon Clelland picked up the assist. Brampton also got a goal from Calvin Gomes as well. More assists for Brampton came via Kyle Allan, Jacob Hanlon, and Michael Darrigo, who contributed one each. Michael Pesendorfer recorded 25 saves for Stratford. The Cullitons registered zero goals on three power play opportunities. Stratford ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jake Ryan was ejected from the game. Brampton incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
