Port Colborne downs Stoney Creek, 5-2West Side Arena Sun, Feb 10, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Pat Murphy registered two points to lead the Port Colborne Pirates to a 5-2 victory over the Stoney Creek Warriors. Stoney Creek was unable to stop Port Colborne from sending pucks towards the net, and the Pirates eventually piled up 47 shots on goal. The defensemen of Port Colborne were also effective in the Warriors' zone, and came away with two goals. Port Colborne also got points from Dayne Phillips, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Port Colborne also had goals scored by Zack Deconilys, who had two and Nathan Judd Warren and Trevor Smith, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Port Colborne were John DiLorenzo, Bryan Komasara, and Nick Dagostino, who contributed one a piece and Jordan Warren and Charlie Izaguirre, who each chipped in two. Stoney Creek was led by Cordell James, who grabbed one goal and one assist. James scored on the power play 15:20 into the first period to make the score 2-2. The Warriors earned a power play opportunity when Murphy was put in the box for tripping. Wesley St. Amand assisted on the tally. Zach Niemanen also scored for Stoney Creek. In addition, Stoney Creek received assists from Alexander Zaccaria, who had one. Real Cormier recorded 28 saves for the Pirates. Port Colborne incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Stoney Creek's Blake Richard stopped 42 shots out of the 47 that he faced. The Warriors incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
