LaSalle vanquishes Sarnia in shootout, 4-3 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the LaSalle Vipers defeated the Sarnia Legionnaires in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO).

The two teams needed six turns to complete the shootout.

LaSalle saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. The Vipers made the score 4-2 on a power play goal by Derek D`Andrea at 5:40 in the third period. Sarnia evened things up at 1-1 on a power play goal by Jason Teschke at 14:14 in the first period.

LaSalle was paced by Dylan Denomme, who racked up two goals and one assist. Denomme scored the first of his two goals at 8:24 into the first period to make the score 1-0 LaSalle. Ben Hanus assisted on the tally. Denomme's next tally made the score 4-1 LaSalle with 4:06 left in the second period.

LaSalle also got points from Korey Morgan, who also had one goal and one assist. LaSalle also got a goal from Weston Gaul as well. Other players who recorded assists for LaSalle were Nathan Savage and Eric Noel, who each chipped in one.

Sarnia additionally got points from D`Andrea, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Sarnia received assists from Brent Sauve, who had one and Davis Boyer, who had two.

The Vipers' Conner MacKinnon stopped 26 shots out of the 29 that he faced. LaSalle incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Vipers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Gaul was ejected from the game. Sean Parker made 21 saves for the Legionnaires on 24 shots. Sarnia incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
