Brent Sauve gave the Sarnia Legionnaires a 5-4 (OT) victory over the London Nationals when he scored 45 seconds into the extra period. Sarnia got the win on the strength of a great game by Sauve, who had two goals and one assist. Sauve scored the first of his two goals at 12:08 into the first period to make the score 3-0 Sarnia. Jason Teschke picked up the assist. Sauve's next tally made the score 5-4 Sarnia with 19:15 left in overtime. Teschke provided the assist. London's power play was ineffective against the Legionnaires' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. Sarnia's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Legionnaires finished with 56 penalty minutes. Sarnia additionally got points from Josh Kestner, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Nathan Mater, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Derek D`Andrea, who also finished with one goal and one assist. In addition, Sarnia received assists from Matt Cimetta and PJ Vandervaart, who each chipped in one. The Nationals excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Bauer scored on the power play 10:04 into the third period to make the score 3-3. London had gained a power play chance when Sauve was whistled for unsportsmanlike conduct. Derek Todosichuk picked up the assist. London also got points from Ryan Wells, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Blake Thomas also scored for London. Other players who recorded assists for London were Noah Schwartz, Paul Hopkins, Ryan Tuffin, Sean Consitt, and Aaron Dartch, who contributed one a piece. The Legionnaires' Parker stopped 36 shots out of the 40 that he faced. Taylor Edwards rejected 16 shots on goal for the Nationals. London incurred 50 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Nationals ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Todosichuk was ejected from the game.
