Caledonia holds on for 5-4 win against WaterlooWaterloo Rec Complex Sun, Feb 03, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Waterloo Siskins tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Caledonia Corvairs held on for a 5-4 victory. Caledonia took a 4-2 lead during the second period, only to have Waterloo storm back on a James Soper goal 3:02 into the third period to pull to one goal down. The Corvairs was paced on offense by Jeff Swift and Ryan Blunt, who combined for five points. Swift grabbed one goal and three assists and Blunt also added one goal. Caledonia's offense rang up 37 shots on the Siskins' net. The Corvairs could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. Caledonia also got points from Adam Brady, who also had one goal and one assist. Caledonia also got a goal from Spencer Gourlay as well. More assists for Caledonia came via Connor Murphy, Tyler Norrie, Matt Quilty, and Marc Silvestri, who contributed one a piece. Waterloo forced Caledonia goalie Justis Husak to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Waterloo additionally got points from Evan Buehler, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Ryan Doucette also scored for Waterloo. In addition, Waterloo received assists from Eric Cimino, Stephen Comegna, and Matt Cruickshank, who each chipped in one and Trevor Atkinson APJ and Christian Mroczkowski, who contributed two a piece. Husak recorded 30 saves for the Corvairs. Caledonia registered one goal on four power play opportunities. PJ Bridges made 32 saves for the Siskins on 37 shots. Waterloo incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Siskins ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Keigan Goetz was ejected from the game.
