LaSalle survives Lambton Shores comeback, wins 6-4The Shores Recreation Centre Sat, Feb 02, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Lambton Shores Predators tried their best to erase a four-goal deficit, but the LaSalle Vipers would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 6-4. A goal by Ben Hanus put LaSalle up 6-2 in the second period, but Lambton Shores pulled to within two on Kyle Brothers's tally 18:02 into the third period. The Vipers pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 21 penalty minutes. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 11:38 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. LaSalle stifled the Predators' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Vipers found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, LaSalle averages 3.9 goals per contest. The Vipers were led by Dylan Denomme, who racked up one goal and two assists. Denomme scored 11:30 into the first period to make the score 2-0 LaSalle. Hanus assisted on the tally. LaSalle also got points from Korey Morgan, who also registered one goal and two assists and Hanus, who also finished with one goal and one assist. LaSalle also got a goal from Blake Rutckyj as well. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Patrick Murphy, who had two and Chad Shepley, Blake Jones, Scott Prier, and Eric Noel, who contributed one a piece. Lambton Shores forced LaSalle goalie Taylor Speed to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. The Predators were helped by Adam Arseneault, who grabbed two goals and one assist. Arseneault scored the first of his two goals at 8:06 into the second period to make the score 4-2 LaSalle. Brothers picked up the assist. Arseneault's next tally made the score 6-3 LaSalle with 16:26 left in the third period. Brothers provided the assist. Lambton Shores additionally got points from Brothers, who also had one goal and two assists. Bryan Boersma also scored for Lambton Shores. Other players who recorded assists for Lambton Shores were Connor Annett, who had three and Dillon Liberty and Tanner Ferguson, who each chipped in one. Speed rejected 29 shots on goal for the Vipers. LaSalle registered one goal on three power play opportunities. For the Vipers, Weston Gaul was ejected from the game. Lambton Shores' starting goalie, Justin Tugwell, made nine saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Brandon Campbell, who stopped eight shots. The Predators totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-7 on the power play. Lambton Shores ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Matt Ross was ejected from the game.
