Elmira beats Listowel 5-4 after comeback scareListowel Arena Fri, Feb 01, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Elmira Sugar Kings survived a determined comeback attempt by the Listowel Cyclones on the way to a 5-4 win. Elmira took a 5-3 lead during the third period, only to have Listowel storm back on a Scott Pawson goal 19:00 into the third period to pull to one goal down. Cash Seraphim and Jake Weidner provided the spark for the Sugar Kings, combining for three goals and three assists. Seraphim registered two goals and one assist and Weidner also notched one goal and two assists. Elmira kept the Cyclones' goalie busy throughout the game, and Drew Reinhardt made 39 saves on 44 shots. Elmira also got points from Brandon Stewart, who also finished with one goal and two assists and Weidner, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Zac Coulter also scored for Elmira. Other players who recorded assists for Elmira were Jay Freid APJ, Adam Brubacher, Pat McKelvie(APJ), Adam Dauda, and Mitch Wright, who contributed one a piece. The Sugar Kings were unable to stop Listowel from sending pucks towards the net, and the Cyclones eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. Listowel was led by Jacob Robitaille, who grabbed two goals and one assist. Robitaille scored the first of his two goals at 1:56 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Listowel. Caleb Cameron picked up the assist. Robitaille's next tally made the score 2-1 Listowel with 11:24 left in the first period. The Cyclones had taken the advantage when Elmira's Wright got sent off for tripping. Scott Coghlin assisted on the tally. More assists for Listowel came via Patrick Bell, who had three. Hayden Neuman rejected 32 shots on goal for the Sugar Kings. Elmira incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Listowel incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
