Port Colborne downs Thorold, 7-4

The Thorold Blackhawks fell to the Port Colborne Pirates, 7-4.

Port Colborne forced Blackhawks' netminders to work without much rest, finishing with 35 shots and forcing 28 saves. Vinny Merante made 13 stops and Brendan Polasek made 15. The Pirates bested their season scoring average. Port Colborne averages 4.9 goals per game. The Pirates got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed four goals during the game.

Port Colborne was helped by Dima Lavrenov, who had one goal and one assist. Lavrenov scored 9:11 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Port Colborne. Zack Deconilys assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Port Colborne included Blaine Bechard, who had two and John DiLorenzo, Thomas Sestini, DYLAN BURDICK, and Bryan Komasara, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Port Colborne were Nathan Judd Warren, Zoren Popel, Charlie Izaguirre, and Joe Dagostino, who contributed one a piece and Dayne Phillips and Trevor Smith, who each chipped in three.

The defensemen of Thorold were also effective in the Pirates' zone, and came away with three goals.

Thorold additionally got points from Brian Brosnan, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Thorold also got a goal from Matthew Hoszko as well. In addition, Thorold received assists from Myles Falasca and Mackenzie Mac Avoy, who contributed one a piece.

Real Cormier rejected 26 shots on goal for Port Colborne. The Pirates incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Thorold incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
