Kitchener outlasts Cambridge, 4-2

The Kitchener Dutchmen gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Cambridge Winter Hawks.

Kitchener gained the winning advantage on a goal by Matt Pappineau 6:14 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

The Dutchmen got the win behind a great game by Matt Guild, who had two goals and one assist. Guild scored the first of his two goals at 2:10 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Kitchener. Clayton Greer assisted on the tally. Guild's next tally made the score 4-2 Kitchener with 36 seconds left in the third period. Brett Clampitt picked up the assist.

Cambridge was unable to stop Kitchener from sending pucks towards the net, and the Dutchmen eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. Kitchener's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Kitchener also got a goal from Keegan Calder as well. More assists for Kitchener came via Philip Moser, Eric Hammerl, and Jordan Delaurier, who each chipped in one.

The Winter Hawks' offense rang up 32 shots on the Dutchmen's net.

Cambridge was led by Cameron Pentsa, who finished with one goal and one assist. Pentsa scored 46 seconds into the third period to make the score 2-2. Cody Gratton provided the assist. Mitch Klie also scored for Cambridge. Other players who recorded assists for Cambridge were Christian Barnard and Alex Bottigoni, who contributed one a piece.

Marc Williams made 30 saves for Kitchener on 32 shots. The Dutchmen incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Lucas Machalski rejected 28 shots on goal for the Winter Hawks. Cambridge incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
