Kitchener vanquishes Brampton in shootout, 2-1 (2-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Kitchener Dutchmen defeated the Brampton Bombers in a shootout 2-1 (2-0 SO).

The two teams needed five turns to complete the shootout. In addition to the clincher, Kitchener got a shootout goal from Keli Grant.

The Dutchmen came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Kitchener trailed 1-0 after a goal by Brampton's Francois Cote at 9:21 in the first period. The Dutchmen knotted things up at 1-1 on a goal by Matt Guild at 4:07 in the second period.

The Bombers were stymied by Kitchener netminder Marc Williams, who stopped 28 shots during the victory. Williams certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.14 entering the contest.

The Dutchmen stifled Brampton's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Kitchener's offense rang up 32 shots on the Bombers' net.

Other players who recorded assists for Kitchener were Logan Schmidt (APM) and Clayton Greer, who each chipped in one.

In addition, Brampton received assists from Jacob Hanlon and Brady Clouthier, who contributed one a piece.

The Dutchmen totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. Kitchener ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brett Clampitt was ejected from the game. Bryan Raymond rejected 30 shots on goal for Brampton. The Bombers totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play. For Brampton, Kyle Allan was ejected from the game.
