Teschke nets hat trick, leads Sarnia to 7-4 win over Strathroy

Jason Teschke netted a hat trick to lead the Sarnia Legionnaires over the Strathroy Rockets, 7-4.

Teschke notched his first tally 2:00 into the first period. He then added goals at 8:50 into the third and at 9:45 into the third.

Strathroy's power play was ineffective against Sarnia's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Legionnaires kept the Rockets' goalie busy throughout the game, and Dalen Kuchmey made 31 saves on 38 shots. Sarnia surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Legionnaires average 3.8 goals per game. Sarnia cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring two goals on three chances.

Sarnia additionally got points from Josh Kestner, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Nathan Mater, who also tallied two goals and one assist, and Brent Sauve, who also registered one goal and two assists. More assists for Sarnia came via Derek D`Andrea, who had two and Hunter Tyczynski, Jeff King, Bobby King, and Tyler Prong, who contributed one a piece.

The Legionnaires were unable to stop Strathroy from sending pucks towards the net, and the Rockets eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

Strathroy was helped by Wes Baker, who had one goal. Baker scored 12:21 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Sarnia. Trevor Dulong picked up the assist. Strathroy also got points from Tyler Duarte, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Nick Boyer, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Stuart King also scored for Strathroy. In addition, Strathroy received assists from Shawn Grogan, Brett Dalton, Kurtis Sander, Mike Mandarelli, and Max Naus, who each chipped in one.

Sean Parker made 36 saves for Sarnia on 40 shots. The Legionnaires incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Rockets incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
