Listowel vanquishes Stratford in shootout, 3-2 (3-2 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Listowel Cyclones defeated the Stratford Cullitons in a shootout 3-2 (3-2 SO).

The shootout featured eight attempts between both teams. Stratford's shootout goals were scored by Andrew Barton and Jake Ryan. Listowel's other shootout goals were scored by Caleb Cameron and Jacob Robitaille.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 13:44 into the first period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Cyclones were helped by Carter Stewart, who registered one goal. Stewart scored 7:49 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Listowel. Mac Nichol also scored for Listowel. In addition, Listowel received assists from Cameron, who had one.

The Cullitons' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Listowel power plays. Stratford's offense rang up 57 shots on Listowel's net.

The Cullitons were helped by Ryan, who tallied one goal. Ryan scored 18:14 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Barton assisted on the tally. Stratford also got a goal from Jared Culliton as well. Other players who recorded assists for Stratford were Ryan Watson and Trevor Sauder, who contributed one a piece.

Drew Reinhardt made 55 saves for the Cyclones on 57 shots. Listowel ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. The Cyclones ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Patrick Bell was ejected from the game. Nick Caldwell recorded 26 saves for Stratford. The Cullitons totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. For Stratford, Liam Maaskant was ejected from the game.
