Stoney Creek falls to Welland in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Welland Jr. Canadians pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Stoney Creek Warriors on a clutch goal by Ryan Migliaccio.

In a losing effort, Stoney Creek was led by Mitch Graham, who racked up two goals. Graham scored the first of his two goals at 6:36 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Neil Aird assisted on the tally. Graham's next tally made the score 2-2 with 2:02 left in the second period. Blake Luscombe picked up the assist.

In a losing effort, the Warriors were sparked by Graham, who had two goals.

Welland's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Stoney Creek power plays. The Jr. Canadians kept Stoney Creek's goalie busy throughout the game, and Alexander Brooks-Potts made 29 saves on 33 shots.

Welland additionally got points from Riley Brooks, who also registered one goal and one assist and Lapine Rob, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Matthew Mateljan also scored for Welland. In addition, Welland received assists from Adam Mataya, Derrik Vannas, Chris Langdon, and Braden Curry, who each chipped in one.

The Warriors excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances.

Stoney Creek also got points from Wesley St. Amand, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Stoney Creek came via Lucas Triemstra and Alexander Zaccaria, who contributed one a piece.

Chris McDougall made 22 saves for Welland on 25 shots. The Jr. Canadians incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Stoney Creek incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
