Muir's hat trick boosts Welland over Buffalo, 14-5

Brooker Muir lifted the Welland Jr. Canadians to a 14-5 victory with a hat trick against the Buffalo Jr. Blades.

Muir notched his first tally 10:44 into the first period. He then added goals at 9:13 into the second and at 19:45 into the third.

Welland led 5-1 after the opening frame the first period and maintained a healthy margin after.

The Jr. Canadians forced Buffalo's goalies to work all game long, taking 61 shots and forcing 47 saves. Ian Shorthouse made 34 stops and New Player made 13. Welland surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Jr. Canadians have scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign. Welland's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Welland additionally got points from Riley Brooks, who also finished with two goals and one assist, Josh Gervais, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Mack Seebach, who also had one goal and three assists, Adam Barron, who also registered one goal and one assist, Lapine Rob, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Braden Curry, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Ryan Migliaccio, who also had two goals and three assists to lead the team in points. Welland also got a goal from Jason Lacroix as well. More assists for Welland came via Matt Gillard, who had three, Adam Mataya and Chris Langdon, who contributed one a piece, and Aaron Beally, Cole McKnight, Chris Brown, and Gabe Ruggi, who each chipped in two.

The Jr. Blades' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Buffalo averages 2.1 goals per contest.

The Jr. Blades were helped by Seth Hamilton, who registered four goals. Pat Dullen APJ also scored for Buffalo. In addition, Buffalo received assists from Ryan Stayner, who had three, Kennedy Monaco, who had four, and John Ferris, Tom Hanna, and Josh Gordon, who contributed one a piece.

Matt Coulombe made 21 saves for the Jr. Canadians on 26 shots. Welland incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Buffalo incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
