The Port Colborne Pirates tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the St. Catharines Falcons held on for a 3-2 victory. St. Catharines took a 3-1 lead during the third period, only to have Port Colborne storm back on a Bryan Komasara goal 10:52 into the third period to pull to one goal down. The Falcons got the win thanks to a great game by Ed Creighton, who had one goal and two assists. Creighton scored 4:28 into the second period to make the score 1-0 St. Catharines. Mitch Bursey picked up the assist. St. Catharines was held below its usual level of production. The Falcons put an average of 6.2 pucks into the net per game. St. Catharines forced the Pirates goalie Real Cormier to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots. St. Catharines additionally got points from Kyle Woodhouse, who also had one goal and one assist and Jesse Miller, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, St. Catharines received assists from Greg Jambrosich, who had one. Port Colborne's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three St. Catharines power plays. The Pirates could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Port Colborne averages 4.6 goals per game. Zack Deconilys also scored for Port Colborne. Other players who recorded assists for Port Colborne were Dayne Phillips, who had two and Pat Murphy and Pol Gonzalez, who each chipped in one. Stormer Santana recorded 25 saves for the Falcons. St. Catharines incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Real Cormier made 44 saves for the Pirates on 47 shots. Port Colborne incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
