Brampton survives Elmira comeback, wins 2-1

The Elmira Sugar Kings tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Brampton Bombers would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 2-1.

Brampton took a 2-0 lead during the second period, only to have Elmira storm back on a Craig Johnson goal 15:11 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Bombers were led by goalie Erik Angeli, who finished with 26 saves while allowing one goal. Angeli managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 4.19 prior to the game.

Brampton excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

The Bombers were led by Brady Clouthier, who had one goal and one assist. Clouthier scored 1:27 into the second period to make the score Brampton. Jacob Hanlon picked up the assist. Brampton also got a goal from Eric DiCarlo as well. In addition, Brampton received assists from Michael Darrigo, who had two.

The Sugar Kings' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Brampton power plays. Elmira's offense operated below it season average. The Sugar Kings average 3.8 goals per game.

Other players who recorded assists for Elmira were Cash Seraphim and Jake Weidner, who contributed one a piece.

Brampton incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Bombers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kurt Wolff was ejected from the game. Elmira's Hayden Neuman stopped 16 shots out of the 18 that he faced. The Sugar Kings incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
