Kitchener vanquishes Brampton in shootout, 5-4 (2-1 SO)Powerade Centre Fri, Jan 11, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Kitchener Dutchmen defeated the Brampton Bombers in a shootout 5-4 (2-1 SO). The shootout lasted for five attempts between the teams. Brampton got a shootout goal from Reid Jackman. Kitchener also got a shootout goal from Eric Hammerl.The Dutchmen came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Kitchener fell behind 4-2 after a goal by the Bombers' Nik Borschevsky at 2:05 in the third period. The Dutchmen knotted things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Keli Grant at 14:35 in the third period. Kitchener got the win on the strength of a great game by Ryo Kobayashi, who had one goal and two assists. Kobayashi scored on the power play 5:36 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Brampton. A slashing penalty on Connor Andersen had put the Dutchmen on the power play. John Divo picked up the assist. Kitchener also got points from Hammerl, who also had one goal and two assists and Grant, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Keegan Calder also scored for Kitchener. More assists for Kitchener came via Harrison Scarfonne, who had one. Brampton was led by Jacob Hanlon, who grabbed two goals. Hanlon scored the first of his two goals at 15:52 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Michael Darrigo provided the assist. Hanlon's next tally made the score 3-2 Brampton with 19:16 left in the third period. Phil Caputo assisted on the tally. Brampton also got a goal from Eric DiCarlo as well. Other players who recorded assists for Brampton were Brady Clouthier, who had three and Josh Villaflor and Brandon Clelland, who contributed one a piece. Marc Williams made 15 saves for Kitchener on 19 shots. The Dutchmen incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Bryan Raymond recorded 17 saves for the Bombers. Brampton incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Bombers, Jake Gilmour was ejected from the game.
