Karaim nets hat trick, leads St. Catharines to 12-5 win over Buffalo

The Buffalo Jr. Blades could not stop the St. Catharines Falcons' Luke Karaim, who tallied a hat trick in a 12-5 win.

Karaim notched his first tally 1:15 into the first period. He then added goals at 3:13 into the second and at 8:29 into the third.

St. Catharines' offense rang up 54 shots on Buffalo's net. The Falcons' goal total was higher than their season average. St. Catharines averages 6.3 goals per game. The Falcons' defense was uncharacteristically lax during the game. St. Catharines gives up 2.4 goals per game.

St. Catharines also got points from Jimmy Sheehan, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Ben Walsh, who also finished with two goals and two assists, Greg Jambrosich, who also registered one goal and one assist, Tyler Jackson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Yanni Rallis, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Aaron Taylor, who also had one goal and three assists, Jesse Miller, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Mitch Bennett, who also grabbed one goal and three assists. In addition, St. Catharines received assists from Koddi Quick, who had three, Brad Col, Spencer DeWolfe, and Jordan Bailey, who contributed one a piece, and Kyle Woodhouse and Julian Luciani, who each chipped in two.

The Jr. Blades found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Buffalo has scored at the pace of 2.0 goals per game during the current campaign.

The Jr. Blades were helped by Kennedy Monaco, who registered one goal. Monaco scored 11:13 into the second period to make the score 6-4 St. Catharines. Dan DeFranco assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Buffalo included Tom Hanna, who had two and Seth Hamilton and Matt Corey, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Buffalo were Colton Anstey and Gary Seitz, who contributed one a piece and Ryan Stayner, Josh Gordon, and Tyler Kessler, who each chipped in two.

Jonathon D Ilario made 20 saves for the Falcons on 25 shots. St. Catharines totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. Buffalo's Brandon Klein stopped 42 shots out of the 54 that he faced. The Jr. Blades incurred 40 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
