Sarnia takes care of St. Thomas early, wins 10-0

The Sarnia Legionnaires opened up a five-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to a 10-0 over the St. Thomas Stars.

Sean Parker frustrated St. Thomas' offense all game, and stopped 34 shots en route to a shutout. The solid play of Parker will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.38.

Sarnia got the win thanks to a great game by Davis Boyer, who had four goals and two assists. Boyer got on the scoresheet 3:18 into the first period. He then added goals at 12:38 into the first, at 19:33 into the first, and at 1:05 into the third.

The Legionnaires put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Stars to score on any of their five power plays. Sarnia outdid its season average for goals scored. The Legionnaires average 3.7 goals per game. Sarnia was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 24 penalty minutes. The Legionnaires got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game.

Sarnia additionally got points from Josh Kestner, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Jason Teschke, who also had one goal and four assists, and Derek D`Andrea, who also registered one goal and four assists. Jeff Paulley also scored for Sarnia. More assists for Sarnia came via Nathan Mater, who had three and Hunter Tyczynski, Jeff King, Brent Sauve, and Tyler Prong, who each chipped in one.

St. Thomas could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Stars put an average of 3.8 pucks into the net per game. Sarnia was unable to stop St. Thomas from sending pucks towards the net, and the Stars eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

The Legionnaires registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Donald Edwards made 20 saves for St. Thomas on 30 shots. The Stars incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
