Huge game by Sauve boosts Sarnia over Leamington, 6-3Sarnia Arena Tue, Jan 08, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Brent Sauve had four goals and one assist to lead the Sarnia Legionnaires to a 6-3 victory over the Leamington Flyers. Sauve's first goal came 3:27 into the second period. He then added goals at 7:00 into the second, at 3:51 into the third, and at 18:58 into the third.Leamington was unable to stop Sarnia from sending pucks towards the net, and the Legionnaires eventually piled up 52 shots on goal. Sarnia surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Legionnaires average 3.6 goals per game. Sarnia also got points from Josh Kestner, who also registered one goal and one assist. Sarnia also got a goal from Matt Cimetta as well. In addition, Sarnia received assists from Nathan Mater, who had four and Jeff King, Davis Boyer, and PJ Vandervaart, who contributed one a piece. The Flyers forced Sarnia goalie Sean Parker to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Leamington was led by Kyle Bowman, who racked up two goals. Bowman scored the first of his two goals at 12:48 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Tony Spidalieri picked up the assist. Bowman's next tally made the score 4-2 Sarnia with 19:23 left in the third period. Spidalieri provided the assist. Nathan Opblinger also scored for Leamington. More assists for Leamington came via Cole Chevalier and Joe Manchurek, who each chipped in one. Parker rejected 28 shots on goal for the Legionnaires. Sarnia incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Austyn Roudebush made 46 saves for the Flyers on 51 shots. Leamington incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
