Huge game by Doan boosts Leamington over Strathroy, 7-3

Myles Doan was all over the ice for the Leamington Flyers, as he tallied one goal and two assists in Leamington's 7-3 win over the Strathroy Rockets.

Doan beat Dalen Kuchmey with a shot 5:02 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Leamington. Kyle Bowman assisted on the tally. Doan dished an assist on Kyle Shaw's goal that made the score 3-1 Leamington at 17:12 into the second period. He added another helper on Alex Seguin's goal that made the score 5-3 Leamington at 16:14 into the third period.

The Flyers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Strathroy to score on any of its three power plays. Leamington kept the Rockets' goalie busy throughout the game, and Kuchmey made 42 saves on 49 shots. The Flyers bested their season scoring average. Leamington averages 3.7 goals per game.

Leamington also got points from Shaw, who also had one goal and two assists, Nathan Opblinger, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Tony Spidalieri, who also registered one goal and one assist. David Dalby also scored for Leamington. Other players who recorded assists for Leamington were Brett Langlois, who had three and Chris Scott and Eric Leardi, who each chipped in one.

Strathroy was helped by Liam Gillooly, who grabbed one goal. Gillooly scored 3:02 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Leamington. Strathroy additionally got points from Tyler Duarte, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Stuart King, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Strathroy came via Micheal Woolley and Nick Boyer, who contributed one a piece.

The Flyers' Austyn Roudebush stopped 22 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Leamington incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Rockets incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
