Strathroy vanquishes Sarnia in shootout, 4-3 (2-1 SO)West Middlesex Arena Sat, Dec 22, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Strathroy Rockets defeated the Sarnia Legionnaires in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO). The shootout featured 10 attempts between both teams. Sarnia got a shootout goal from Jason Teschke. In addition to the clincher, Strathroy got a shootout goal from Wes Baker.The Rockets pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 26 penalty minutes. Strathroy stifled the Legionnaires' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Rockets kept Sarnia's goalie busy throughout the game, and Sean Parker made 45 saves on 49 shots. Strathroy was helped by Nick Boyer, who had one goal. Boyer scored 3:06 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Strathroy. Stuart King picked up the assist. Strathroy also got a goal from Tyler Duarte as well. Other players who recorded assists for Strathroy were Micheal Woolley, Ryan Field, and Dylan Wilson-Foote, who each chipped in one. The Legionnaires' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Strathroy power plays. The Rockets were unable to stop Sarnia from sending pucks towards the net, and the Legionnaires eventually piled up 43 shots on goal. Sarnia was helped by Teschke, who racked up three goals. More assists for Sarnia came via Derek D`Andrea, who had two and Davis Boyer, who had three. Dalen Kuchmey made 40 saves for Strathroy on 43 shots. The Legionnaires incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For Sarnia, Nathan Mater was ejected from the game.
