Fort Erie blows out Buffalo, 6-2

The Fort Erie Meteors were firing on all cylinders against the Buffalo Jr. Blades, and when the final buzzer sounded Meteors emerged with a 6-2 win.

Fort Erie's penalty kill excelled, as the Meteors gave up zero goals despite allowing 12 power plays.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 13:14 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

Fort Erie racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and one major for 75 minutes in penalty time. The Meteors had been averaging 26.0 minutes in penalties per game. Fort Erie stifled Buffalo's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Jr. Blades were unable to stop the Meteors from sending pucks towards the net, and Fort Erie eventually piled up 59 shots on goal. The Meteors bested their season scoring average. This season, Fort Erie averages 3.1 goals per contest.

The Meteors were helped by Aaron Wanat, who racked up one goal. Wanat scored 3:18 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fort Erie. Nigel Slade provided the assist. Fort Erie additionally got points from Andy Sturtz, who also grabbed two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Fort Erie also got a goal from Richard DeMarco as well. Other players who recorded assists for Fort Erie were Nik Passero, who had three and Austin Carroll, Dallas Ingram, Jesse Parker, Riley Devine, Mike Boles, Carson Johnstone, and Anthony Passero, who each chipped in one.

Buffalo was led by Nick Berst, who finished with one goal and one assist. Berst scored 10:51 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Fort Erie. Mitchell Scanlan* assisted on the tally. Kennedy Monaco also scored for Buffalo. In addition, Buffalo received assists from Tom Hanna and Gary Seitz, who contributed one a piece.

Connor Visca recorded 26 saves for Fort Erie. The Meteors registered one goal on two power play opportunities. For Fort Erie, Carroll and Passero were ejected from the contest. Ian Shorthouse made 53 saves for the Jr. Blades on 59 shots. Buffalo ended with 31 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. Team's Brendan Kaplewicz* and Matt CoreyAPM were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
