Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the St. Marys Lincolns defeated the Sarnia Legionnaires in a shootout 5-4 (1-0 SO). The two teams needed six turns to complete the shootout.St. Marys was led by Reid Oliver, who grabbed two goals and one assist. Oliver scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 17:48 into the second period to make the score 2-1 St. Marys. The Lincolns had gotten the advantage when Sarnia's Tyler Prong was sent off for tripping. Sean Consitt provided the assist. Oliver's next tally on the power play made the score 3-3 with 13:04 left in the third period. Consitt assisted on the tally. St. Marys additionally got points from Kyle Flemington, who also finished with one goal and one assist. St. Marys also got a goal from Calvin Penney as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Marys were Tyson Baker and Jonathan Rizzo, who each chipped in one. St. Marys was unable to stop the Legionnaires from sending pucks towards the net, and Sarnia eventually piled up 31 shots on goal. The Legionnaires were helped by Nathan Mater, who registered two goals. Mater scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 1:20 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Matt Cimetta picked up the assist. Mater's next tally on the power play made the score 4-4 with 32 seconds left in the third period. Josh Kestner provided the assist. Sarnia also got points from Kestner, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Jeff King also scored for Sarnia. More assists for Sarnia came via Jason Teschke, who had two and Bobby King and Davis Boyer, who contributed one a piece. Jacob Theut recorded 27 saves for the Lincolns. St. Marys incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Sarnia's Sean Parker stopped 23 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Legionnaires totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. For Sarnia, Cimetta was ejected from the game.
