Behind a great game by Jake Weidner, who had two goals and two assists, the Elmira Sugar Kings defeated the Listowel Cyclones, 7-5. Weidner found the back of the net short handed 19:07 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Elmira and again while on the power play 8:57 into the third to make the score 6-5 Elmira.Elmira kept Listowel's goalie busy throughout the game, and Drew Reinhardt made 37 saves on 44 shots. The Sugar Kings outdid their season average for goals scored. Elmira has scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign. Elmira additionally got points from Brady Campbell, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, Zac Coulter, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Brandon Stewart, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Matt Sheick also scored for Elmira. Other players who recorded assists for Elmira were Adam Brubacher, Cass Frey, Adam Dauda, Steven Jakiela, Cash Seraphim, and Mitch Wright, who each chipped in one. The Cyclones racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and two majors for 26 minutes in penalty time. Listowel surpassed its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. The Cyclones forced the Sugar Kings goalie Hayden Neuman to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. Listowel was helped by Jacob Robitaille, who finished with two goals and one assist. Robitaille scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 19:31 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Elmira. The Cyclones earned a power play opportunity when Coulter was put in the box for tripping. Mac Nichol provided the assist. Robitaille's next tally on the power play made the score 5-5 with 13:57 left in the third period. Listowel had gotten the advantage when Elmira's Coulter was sent off for hooking. Nichol assisted on the tally. Listowel also got points from Caleb Cameron, who also grabbed one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Listowel also got a goal from Patrick Bell as well. In addition, Listowel received assists from Scott Pawson, who had one. The Sugar Kings' Neuman stopped 32 shots out of the 37 that he faced. Elmira totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. For the Sugar Kings, Coulter was ejected from the game. The Cyclones registered three goals on eight power play opportunities. For Listowel, Tyler Crawford and Dylan Sayles were ejected from the contest.
