In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Cambridge Winter Hawks escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Waterloo Siskins.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Alex Bottigoni's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Cambridge was led by Bottigoni, who tallied one goal. Bottigoni scored on the power play 15:44 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Cambridge. The Winter Hawks had gained a power play chance when Eric Cimino was whistled for head contact. Aaron Duggan picked up the assist.

Cambridge's offense rang up 42 shots on Waterloo's net. The Winter Hawks was effective with a man advantage, and put in three goals while on the power play.

Cambridge additionally got points from Brennon Pearce, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Christian Barnard also scored for Cambridge. More assists for Cambridge came via Maxime Lamontagne, who had two and Cameron Pentsa and Trevor Hache, who contributed one a piece.

The Siskins kept Cambridge's goalie busy throughout the game, and Lucas Machalski made 39 saves on 41 shots.

Waterloo was helped by Christian Mroczkowski, who finished with one goal and one assist. Mroczkowski scored on the power play 7:25 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Siskins earned a power play opportunity when Bottigoni was put in the box for interference. Adam Campagnolo assisted on the tally. Waterloo also got points from Ryan Doucette, who also racked up one goal and one assist.

The Winter Hawks incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. PJ Bridges rejected 38 shots on goal for Waterloo. The Siskins incurred 42 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
