Lambton Shores beats Sarnia 2-1 after comeback scareThe Shores Recreation Centre Sat, Dec 15, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Sarnia Legionnaires tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Lambton Shores Predators held on for a 2-1 victory. Lambton Shores took a 2-0 lead during the first period, only to have Sarnia storm back on a Derek D`Andrea goal 5:39 into the third period to pull to one goal down. The Legionnaires were stymied by the Predators netminder Brandon Campbell, who stopped 27 shots during the victory. Campbell certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.08 entering the contest. Lambton Shores put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Sarnia to score on any of its 10 power plays. The Predators forced the Legionnaires goalie Sean Parker to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. Lambton Shores was helped by Brett Thompson, who had one goal. Thompson scored on the power play 15:30 into the first period to make the score Lambton Shores. The Predators had taken the advantage when Sarnia's Josh Kestner got sent off for high sticking. Kyler Keating provided the assist. Lambton Shores also got a goal from Connor Annett as well. In addition, Lambton Shores received assists from Tanner Ferguson, Cale Duberry, and Cleo Gubbles, who contributed one a piece. The Legionnaires' offense operated below they season average. Sarnia averages 3.5 goals per game. The Legionnaires could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game. More assists for Sarnia came via Jason Teschke and Davis Boyer, who each chipped in one. Lambton Shores incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. Sean Parker made 34 saves for Sarnia on 36 shots.
