Port Colborne rolls over Fort Erie, 6-3

The Port Colborne Pirates were firing on all cylinders against the Fort Erie Meteors, and when the final buzzer sounded Pirates emerged with a 6-3 win.

Dima Lavrenov was all over the ice for Port Colborne, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Lavrenov scored the first of his two goals at 50 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-0 Port Colborne. Zack Deconilys assisted on the tally. Lavrenov's next tally made the score 6-3 Port Colborne with 1:41 left in the third period. The Pirates had gained a power play chance when Aaron Wanat was whistled for roughing. Dayne Phillips provided the assist.

Port Colborne forced Fort Erie goalie Wyatt Pickrell to work between the pipes, taking 49 shots. The Pirates was effective with a man advantage, and put in two goals while on the power play.

Port Colborne additionally got points from Deconilys, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Joe Dagostino, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Ryan Pilon also scored for Port Colborne. More assists for Port Colborne came via Nathan Judd-Warren, Trevor Smith, Paul Moskalyk, Bryan Komasara, and Charlie Izaguirre, who each chipped in one.

Port Colborne was unable to stop the Meteors from sending pucks towards the net, and Fort Erie eventually piled up 41 shots on goal.

The Meteors were helped by Nik Passero, who racked up one goal. Passero scored on the power play 7:08 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Port Colborne. Fort Erie had gotten the advantage when the Pirates' Komasara was sent off for cross checking. Kyle Marino assisted on the tally. Fort Erie also got a goal from Richard DeMarco as well. Other players who recorded assists for Fort Erie were Nigel Slade, who had two and Josh Micallef, Carson Johnstone, and Jordan Bailey, who contributed one a piece.

Real Cormier made 38 saves for Port Colborne on 41 shots. The Pirates incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Pickrell rejected 43 shots on goal for the Meteors. Fort Erie incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
