London holds on for 4-2 win against Strathroy

The London Nationals survived a determined comeback attempt by the Strathroy Rockets on the way to a 4-2 win.

London made the score 4-0 on a goal by Aaron Dartch at 5:14 in the second period, and Strathroy got as close as 4-2 when Ryan Field scored 15:16 into the third period.

The Nationals got the win thanks to a great game by Noah Schwartz, who had one goal and two assists. Schwartz scored 57 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-0 London. Blake Thomas provided the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 11:37 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

The London penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and four majors for 54 minutes in penalty time. The Nationals had been averaging 28.0 minutes in penalties per game.

Connor Allison also scored for London. More assists for London came via Shawn Crowley, Keaton Ratcliffe, and Scott Lombardi, who contributed one a piece.

The Rockets racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and three majors for 45 minutes in penalty time. Strathroy surpassed its season average of 26.0 penalty minutes per game.

Strathroy also got a goal from Trevor Dulong as well. Other players who recorded assists for Strathroy were Chase Thornton, who had one.

Taylor Edwards took the win and made 25 saves before being replaced by Nick Dampier who made zero saves. London registered two goals on eight power play opportunities. For the Nationals, Allison, Thomas, Mark Gazdic, Derek Todosichuk, and Dartch were ejected from the contest. The Rockets' Dalen Kuchmey stopped 21 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Strathroy registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. Team's Tyler Duarte, Blake O`Neill, and Tyler Coleman were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
