Fort Erie outlasts Stoney Creek, 4-2

The Fort Erie Meteors and the Stoney Creek Warriors were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Fort Erie made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Jordan Bailey at 19:27 of the third period.

The Meteors were paced by Bailey, who racked up one goal and one assist.

Fort Erie kept Stoney Creek's goalie busy throughout the game, and Alexander Brooks-Potts made 39 saves on 43 shots.

Fort Erie additionally got points from Jesse Parker, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Nik Passero, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Jesse Pereira also scored for Fort Erie. More assists for Fort Erie came via Dallas Ingram, Riley Devine, Carson Johnstone, and Aaron Wanat, who contributed one a piece.

The Warriors forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. Stoney Creek surpassed its season average of 18.0 penalty minutes per game. The Warriors stifled the Meteors' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Fort Erie was unable to stop Stoney Creek from sending pucks towards the net, and the Warriors eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

Stoney Creek was helped by Alexander Zaccaria, who finished with one goal. Zaccaria scored on the power play 14:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stoney Creek. The Warriors earned a power play opportunity when Brandon Voic was put in the box for tripping. Blake Luscombe provided the assist. Stoney Creek also got a goal from Aleksander Panov as well. In addition, Stoney Creek received assists from Marco Mattina and Jake Milligan, who each chipped in one.

The Meteors' Wyatt Pickrell stopped 34 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Fort Erie totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-5 on the power play. The Meteors ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Austin Carroll was ejected from the game. Stoney Creek registered one goal on three power play opportunities. For the Warriors, Cordell James was ejected from the game.
