Thornton leads Strathroy over St. Marys, 6-3Pyramid Recreation Centre Fri, Nov 30, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Chase Thornton had one goal and two assists to lead the Strathroy Rockets to a 6-3 victory over the St. Marys Lincolns. Thornton got on the board by slotting home a goal 10:14 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Strathroy. Tyler Coleman picked up the assist. Thornton dished an assist on Shawn Grogan's goal that made the score 4-1 Strathroy at 14:28 into the second period. He added another helper on Blake O`Neill's goal that made the score 6-3 Strathroy at 19:03 into the third period.Strathroy kept St. Marys' goalie busy throughout the game, and Jake Theut made 40 saves on 46 shots. The Rockets surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Strathroy has scored at the pace of 3.4 goals per game during the current campaign. The Rockets got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Trevor Dulong also scored for Strathroy. Other players who recorded assists for Strathroy were Tyler Duarte, Nick Boyer, and Brett Dyck, who contributed one a piece. The Lincolns forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and two majors for 42 minutes in penalty time.
