Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Caledonia Corvairs defeated the Elmira Sugar Kings in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO). The shootout lasted for eight attempts between the teams.Caledonia came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Corvairs trailed 2-1 after a power play goal by Elmira's Brady Campbell at 8:08 in the third period. Caledonia knotted things up at 2-2 on a power play goal by Brandon Montour at 17:35 in the third period. The Corvairs' offense rang up 38 shots on the Sugar Kings' net. Caledonia was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 24 penalty minutes. The Corvairs were held back by their power play unit, which tallied one goal on 17 chances. Jeff Swift also scored for Caledonia. More assists for Caledonia came via Tyler Norrie, who had one and Ryan Blunt, who had two. Elmira's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Sugar Kings finished with 60 penalty minutes. Elmira was helped by Cash Seraphim, who finished with one goal. Seraphim scored on the power play 19:45 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Matt Sheick provided the assist. Elmira also got points from Campbell, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Elmira received assists from Adam Dauda and Jake Weidner, who each chipped in one. Justis Husak made 27 saves for Caledonia on 29 shots. For the Corvairs, Swift was ejected from the game. The Sugar Kings' Mackenzie Blackwood stopped 35 shots out of the 37 that he faced. Elmira registered two goals on six power play opportunities. The Sugar Kings ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Matt Harding was ejected from the game.
