Stoney Creek rips Fort Erie, 5-2

The Stoney Creek Warriors were firing on all cylinders against the Fort Erie Meteors, and when the final buzzer sounded Warriors emerged with a 5-2 win.

Stoney Creek was paced by Jordan Thomas, who grabbed one goal. Thomas scored 8:39 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Stoney Creek. Marco Mattina provided the assist.

The Warriors excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Stoney Creek surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Warriors average 2.9 goals per game. Stoney Creek's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Stoney Creek also got points from Mattina, who also racked up two goals and one assist, Ryan Lewis, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Blake Luscombe, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Other players who recorded assists for Stoney Creek were Alexander Zaccaria, who had three and Dave Eccles, Mitch Graham, and Jake Milligan, who contributed one a piece.

Fort Erie stifled the Warriors' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Meteors found themselves short handed often, totaling 44 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays.

Fort Erie was helped by Aaron Wanat, who registered one goal. Wanat scored short handed 1:06 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Stoney Creek. Fort Erie also got a goal from Mike Boles as well. In addition, Fort Erie received assists from Mac Passero and Brandon Voic, who each chipped in one.

Alexander Brooks-Potts recorded 19 saves for Stoney Creek. The Warriors incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For Stoney Creek, Wesley St. Amand was ejected from the game. Connor Visca made 21 saves for the Meteors on 26 shots.
