Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Caledonia Corvairs defeated the Kitchener Dutchmen in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO). The shootout featured five attempts between both teams.Matt Quilty had two goals to lead Caledonia to victory. Quilty scored at 14:34 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Caledonia and again while on the power play 1:06 into the third to make the score 2-1 Caledonia. The Corvairs pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 22 penalty minutes. Caledonia stifled Kitchener's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Dutchmen were unable to stop the Corvairs from sending pucks towards the net, and Caledonia eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. Caledonia also got a goal from Jeff Swift as well. More assists for Caledonia came via Matthew Henderson, Ryan Blunt, and Connor Murphy, who contributed one a piece. Kitchener forced the Corvairs goalie Justis Husak to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. The Dutchmen were helped by Clayton Greer, who finished with one goal. Greer scored 14:29 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Matt Pappineau assisted on the tally. Philip Moser also scored for Kitchener. Other players who recorded assists for Kitchener were Brett Clampitt and Jordan Delaurier, who each chipped in one. Justis Husak made 33 saves for Caledonia on 36 shots. The Corvairs registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Marc Williams rejected 34 shots on goal for Kitchener. The Dutchmen incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Kitchener ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Greer was ejected from the game.
