Pickett's hat trick boosts Listowel over Guelph, 6-3Sleeman Centre Sat, Nov 17, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Colten Pickett lifted the Listowel Cyclones to a 6-3 victory with a hat trick against the Guelph Hurricanes. Pickett's first goal came 19:43 into the first period. He then added goals at 3:00 into the second and at 10:22 into the third.Listowel's penalty kill excelled, as the Cyclones gave up one goal despite allowing nine power plays. Listowel kept Guelph's goalie busy throughout the game, and Marcus Nepinak made 29 saves on 35 shots. Listowel also got points from Ben Shelley, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Listowel also got a goal from Dylan Sayles as well. More assists for Listowel came via Sam Harris, Mac Nichol, Brandon Preistap, and Carter Stewart, who each chipped in one and Caleb Cameron and Sam Feagan, who contributed two a piece. The Hurricanes were led by Matt Lippa, who racked up one goal and one assist. Lippa scored short handed 6:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Guelph. A holding call on Ben Rolefson put Guelph on the penalty kill. Craig Martini also scored for Guelph. In addition, Guelph received assists from Patrick Kudla, Mike Wilkins, and John Najafi, who each chipped in one. Daniel Dekoning made 16 saves for the Cyclones on 19 shots. Listowel incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Hurricanes incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
