St. Catharines blows out Fort Erie, 6-1

The St. Catharines Falcons were firing on all cylinders against the Fort Erie Meteors, and when the final buzzer sounded Falcons emerged with a 6-1 win.

St. Catharines' Marcus Del Conte was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 33 saves and let only one puck past him. Del Conte certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.27 entering the contest.

Fort Erie was unable to stop the Falcons from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Catharines eventually piled up 60 shots on goal. The Falcons managed to hold the Meteors' power play largely in check, allowing only one goal while on the disadvantage. St. Catharines was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 38 penalty minutes.

The Falcons were led by Braeden Kavaravtzis, who had one goal and two assists. Kavaravtzis scored on the power play 14:52 into the first period to make the score 2-1 St. Catharines. A too many men penalty on Mac Passero had put St. Catharines on the power play. Ben Walsh provided the assist. St. Catharines also got points from Walsh, who also registered one goal and one assist, Julian Luciani, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Luke Karaim, who also had one goal and one assist. St. Catharines also got a goal from Mitch Bennett as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Catharines were Jimmy Sheehan, who had three and Aaron Taylor and Dan MacEachern, who each chipped in one.

Fort Erie's offense rang up 34 shots on the Falcons' net. The Meteors' penalty kill unit could not stop St. Catharines' power play, which converted on five of four opportunities.

Fort Erie was led by Kyle Davis, who scored the team's only goal. Davis scored on the power play 12:29 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Meteors had gained a power play chance when Brad Col was whistled for checking from behind. Nik Passero picked up the assist.

For the Falcons, Col was ejected from the game. Wyatt Pickrell rejected 54 shots on goal for Fort Erie. The Meteors ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. Team's Austin Carroll and Riley Devine were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
