Port Colborne blows out Fort Erie, 7-2

The Port Colborne Pirates were firing on all cylinders against the Fort Erie Meteors, and when the final buzzer sounded Pirates emerged with a 7-2 win.

Port Colborne was paced by Dima Lavrenov, who registered one goal. Lavrenov scored 56 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-1 Port Colborne. Trevor Smith assisted on the tally.

The Pirates forced Meteors' netminders to work all game long, finishing with 49 shots and forcing 42 saves. Connor Visca made 18 stops and Wyatt Pickrell made 24. Port Colborne's goal total was higher than its season average. The Pirates have scored at the pace of 4.9 goals per game during the current campaign.

Port Colborne additionally got points from Zack Deconilys, who also grabbed one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, Pat Murphy, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Dayne Phillips, who also racked up one goal and two assists, and Bryan Komasara, who also had one goal and two assists. Charlie Izaguirre also scored for Port Colborne. More assists for Port Colborne came via Blaine Bechard, Jordan Warren, and Ryan Pilon, who each chipped in one.

Fort Erie's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Port Colborne power plays. The Meteors' offense rang up 34 shots on Port Colborne's net.

Fort Erie was helped by Jesse Pereira, who grabbed one goal. Pereira scored on the power play 3:35 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Port Colborne. The Meteors had taken the advantage when the Pirates' Morgan Hudson got sent off for delay of game. Carson Johnstone picked up the assist. Fort Erie also got a goal from Jonathan England as well. In addition, Fort Erie received assists from Anthony Passero, Nik Passero, and Jordan Bailey, who contributed one a piece.

Morgan Hudson made 32 saves for Port Colborne on 34 shots. The Pirates incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Fort Erie incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Meteors ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kyle Davis was ejected from the game.
