St. Catharines takes care of Buffalo early, wins 17-1

The St. Catharines Falcons jumped out to a five-point advantage by the end of the first period and beat the Buffalo Jr. Blades, 17-1.

St. Catharines got the win thanks to a great game by Anthony Pullia, who had two goals and three assists. Pullia scored the first of his two goals at 5:54 into the first period to make the score 2-0 St. Catharines. Jesse Miller provided the assist. Pullia's next tally made the score 3-0 St. Catharines with 6:44 left in the first period. The Falcons had gotten the advantage when Buffalo's Domenic Gruttadauria was sent off for slashing. Miller picked up the assist.

The Jr. Blades' seven penalties came back to haunt them, as Buffalo let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

St. Catharines' offense rang up 82 shots on the Jr. Blades' net. The Falcons bested their season scoring average. St. Catharines averages 7.0 goals per game. The defensemen of the Falcons were also effective in Buffalo's zone, and came away with five goals.

St. Catharines additionally got points from Jimmy Sheehan, who also registered two goals and two assists, Dan MacEachern, who also racked up two goals and one assist, Miller, who also had four goals and two assists, Spencer DeWolfe, who also tallied three goals and one assist, and Luke Karaim, who also registered two goals and five assists to lead the team in points. St. Catharines also got a goal from Brad Col as well. More assists for St. Catharines came via Koddi Quick, who had two, Ben Walsh, who had five, Greg Jambrosich, Jake Bowman, and Braeden Kavaravtzis, who contributed one a piece, and Aaron Taylor and Mitch Bursey, who each chipped in four.

The Jr. Blades' offense were handcuffed by St. Catharines' defensive play, and Buffalo managed only 13 shots on goal during the game.

Matt CoreyAPM also scored for Buffalo. Other players who recorded assists for Buffalo were Nick Berst, who had one.

The Falcons' Jonathon D Ilario stopped 12 shots out of the 13 that he faced. St. Catharines incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. New Player rejected 65 shots on goal for the Jr. Blades. Buffalo incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
