Welland survives St. Marys comeback, wins 5-3Welland Arena Sun, Nov 11, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The St. Marys Lincolns almost clawed their way back from a four-goal deficit, but the Welland Jr. Canadians managed to pull out a 5-3 win in the end. Welland led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Jr. Canadians' Ryan Migliaccio's scored at 1:25 in the second period to put Welland up 5-1. The Jr. Canadians struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 34 penalty minutes for nine opposing power plays. Welland was helped by Chris Brown, who had one goal. Brown scored on the power play 12:37 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Welland. The Jr. Canadians had taken the advantage when St. Marys' Sean Consitt got sent off for roughing after whistle. Mack Seebach assisted on the tally. Welland additionally got points from Brooker Muir, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Migliaccio, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Matt Gillard also scored for Welland. More assists for Welland came via Riley Brooks and Cole McKnight, who contributed one a piece and Derrik Vannas and Chris Langdon, who each chipped in two. The Lincolns forced Welland goalie Matt Coulombe to work between the pipes, taking 49 shots. St. Marys' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Lincolns finished with 40 penalty minutes. St. Marys was helped by Owen MacDonald, who grabbed one goal. The Jr. Canadians' Coulombe stopped 46 shots out of the 49 that he faced. Welland registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. Craig Wood took the loss and made nine saves before being replaced by Devin Golets who made 15 saves. The Lincolns ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mike Siddall was ejected from the game.
