The Fort Erie Meteors had trouble finding ways to stop the St. Thomas Stars, which beat Meteors, 5-1. St. Thomas was led by goalie Donald Edwards, who finished with 33 saves while allowing one goal. Despite the solid performance, Edwards will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 0.81 entering the contest. Fort Erie's power play was ineffective against the Stars' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 9:33 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The St. Thomas penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and two majors for 26 minutes in penalty time. The Stars surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. St. Thomas' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Fort Erie power plays. The Stars were helped by Chris Maton, who had one goal. Maton scored 13:44 into the second period to make the score 2-0 St. Thomas. Luc Knight picked up the assist. St. Thomas additionally got points from Martin Kudla, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. St. Thomas also had goals scored by Colin Mooney, who had one and Mike Iacocca, who had two. More assists for St. Thomas came via Kevin Zacharuk, who had two and Daniel Cotroneo and Braden Hellems, who each chipped in one. St. Thomas was unable to stop the Meteors from sending pucks towards the net, and Fort Erie eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. The Stars registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Team's Scott Mitchell and Maton were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Connor Visca made 23 saves for the Meteors on 28 shots. Fort Erie ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and three majors. For the Meteors, Dallas Ingram, Brandon Voic, and Nik Passero were ejected from the contest.
