Kitchener vanquishes Sarnia in shootout, 4-3 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Kitchener Dutchmen defeated the Sarnia Legionnaires in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured six attempts between both teams. Sarnia got a shootout goal from Davis Boyer. In addition to the clincher, Kitchener got a shootout goal from Eric Hammerl.

The Dutchmen came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Kitchener fell behind 3-1 after a goal by the Legionnaires' Jason Teschke at 19:49 in the second period. The Dutchmen knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Keegan Calder at 5:05 in the third period.

Sarnia's power play was ineffective against Kitchener's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Legionnaires were unable to stop the Dutchmen from sending pucks towards the net, and Kitchener eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

The Dutchmen were helped by Keli Grant, who registered one goal. Grant scored on the power play 18:25 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Sarnia. Kitchener had gotten the advantage when Sarnia's Teschke was sent off for roughing. Tyler Hoffman assisted on the tally. Jordan Delaurier also scored for Kitchener. In addition, Kitchener received assists from Philip Moser, Ty Learn, Brett Clampitt, Hammerl, and Dylan Bursey, who contributed one a piece.

The Legionnaires' offense rang up 33 shots on the Dutchmen's net.

Sarnia also got a goal from Zack Tuchklaper as well. Other players who recorded assists for Sarnia were Jeff King, Bobby King, Boyer, and Tyler Prong, who each chipped in one.

Jack Moylan made 30 saves for Kitchener on 33 shots. The Dutchmen incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Sarnia's Sean Parker stopped 28 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Legionnaires incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
