Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the LaSalle Vipers defeated the Waterloo Siskins in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO). The shootout lasted for five attempts between the teams.LaSalle came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Vipers was down 3-1 after a power play goal by Waterloo's Matthew Mah at 11:08 in the second period. LaSalle knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Dylan Denomme at 19:25 in the third period. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 11:15 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The the Vipers penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and one major for 39 minutes in penalty time. LaSalle had been averaging 24.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Vipers forced the Siskins goalie PJ Bridges to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Team could not crack Waterloo's penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having 10 opportunities to play with the man advantage. LaSalle also got points from Blake Jones, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. LaSalle also got a goal from Korey Morgan as well. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Chad Shepley, Brad Carroll, Scott Prier, Eric Noel, and Richard Villani, who each chipped in one. The Siskins racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 11 minors and one major for 47 minutes in penalty time. Waterloo surpassed its season average of 30.0 penalty minutes per game. The Siskins were held back by their power play unit, which tallied two goals on nine chances. Waterloo was helped by Adam Campagnolo, who finished with one goal and one assist. Campagnolo scored 9:05 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Waterloo. Ryan Doucette picked up the assist. Waterloo additionally got points from James Soper, who also grabbed one goal and one assist.
