Chatham squeaks by Brampton, 5-3Powerade Centre Sat, Nov 10, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Chatham Maroons gutted out a close 5-3 win against the Brampton Bombers. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Brayden Hopkins secured the win for Chatham with a goal in the second period. The Maroons were sparked by Eric Palazzolo, who grabbed one goal. Palazzolo scored on the power play 3:05 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Chatham. Chatham had gained a power play chance when Brady Clouthier was whistled for slashing. Evan Mascaro picked up the assist. Brampton was unable to stop the Maroons from sending pucks towards the net, and Chatham eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. The Maroons was effective with a man advantage, and put in three goals while on the power play. Chatham additionally got points from Steven Szekesy, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Alexander Morgan also scored for Chatham. In addition, Chatham received assists from Jake Flegel, who had two and Connor Doran, Michael Verboom, and Sean Myers, who each chipped in one. The Bombers were helped by Leonard DZIEMIANKO, who registered one goal. DZIEMIANKO scored 15:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brampton. Matt Capicotto provided the assist. Brampton also got a goal from Calvin Gomes as well. Other players who recorded assists for Brampton were Kyle Allan, Jacob Hanlon, and Kurt Wolff, who contributed one a piece. Chatham's Scott Tricker stopped 19 shots out of the 22 that he faced. The Maroons incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Erik Angeli made 32 saves for Brampton on 36 shots. The Bombers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
