Seguin's goals lift Leamington to 9-2 victory over Stoney CreekValley Park Arena Sat, Nov 10, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Leamington Flyers relied on the scoring touch of Alex Seguin, who netted two goals, to beat the Stoney Creek Warriors, 9-2. Seguin's tallies came at 5:02 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Leamington and on the power play 4:17 into the second to make the score 3-1 Leamington.Leamington pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 24 penalty minutes. The Flyers made Stoney Creek's goalies to work all game long, finishing with 36 shots and forcing 27 saves. Brendan Polasek made 13 stops and Alexander Brooks-Potts made 14. Leamington's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Flyers average 4.0 goals per contest. Leamington also got points from Nathan Opblinger, who also tallied two goals and one assist and Jared Dennis, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Leamington also had goals scored by Bryce Doan, who had two and David Dalby and Dakota Olvin, who scored one goal each. In addition, Leamington received assists from Kyle Shaw, who had four, Chris Scott and Tony Spidalieri, who each chipped in one, and Brett Babkirk, Jacob McGhee, Cole Chevalier, and Riley Babkirk, who contributed two a piece. The Warriors were led by Cordell James, who racked up one goal. James scored on the power play 7:30 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Stoney Creek had taken the advantage when Leamington's Eric Leardi got sent off for interference. Alexander Zaccaria assisted on the tally. Stoney Creek also got a goal from Harry Polyoka as well. More assists for Stoney Creek came via Jake Bain, who had one. Matt Mancina made 21 saves for the Flyers on 23 shots. Leamington registered five goals on 10 power play opportunities. The Warriors incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. For Stoney Creek, Parsa Monsef and Aleksander Panov were ejected from the contest.
