Stratford pulls away in second, rolls over Buffalo, 15-4Allman Arena Fri, Nov 09, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Buffalo Jr. Blades allowed the Stratford Cullitons to net six goals during the second period and fell, 15-4. Stratford got the win with help from a great game by Dylan Wettlaufer, who had two goals and three assists. Wettlaufer scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 2:39 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Stratford. Jordan Currie picked up the assist. Wettlaufer's next tally on the power play made the score 5-2 Stratford with 14:10 left in the second period. The Cullitons had gained a power play chance when Hunter Conboy was whistled for roughing. Garret James (APM) assisted on the tally. Buffalo fell victim to a deadly Stratford power play, which ripped the Jr. Blades for four goals. The Cullitons forced Buffalo goalie Brandon Klein to work between the pipes, taking 75 shots. Stratford outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Cullitons average 3.9 goals per contest. The defensemen of Stratford were also effective in the Jr. Blades' zone, and came away with two goals. The Cullitons could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game. Stratford also got points from Ryan Watson, who also registered two goals and one assist, Shane O Brien, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Mitch Brooks, who also had two goals and one assist, Trevor Sauder, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Ryker Killins, who also registered one goal and two assists, Jared Culliton, who also finished with one goal and four assists to lead the team in points, Mitch Vandergunst, who also had two goals and one assist, and Jake Ryan, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Stratford also got a goal from Mike Pleon as well. In addition, Stratford received assists from Jonathan Langford, who had two and Josh Miller, Trevor MacDonald, and Jeff McArdle, who contributed one a piece. Buffalo found itself short handed often, totaling 42 penalty minutes and allowing 10 power plays. The Jr. Blades were led by Tom Hanna, who grabbed one goal and two assists. Hanna scored 4:15 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Stratford. Josh Gordon picked up the assist. Buffalo additionally got points from Gordon, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Tyler Kessler, who also registered one goal and one assist. Josh Marr also scored for Buffalo. More assists for Buffalo came via Kennedy Monaco and Gary Seitz, who each chipped in one. Stratford's Joe Metzger stopped 18 shots out of the 22 that he faced. Klein rejected 60 shots on goal for Buffalo. The Jr. Blades registered one goal on six power play opportunities.
