Todosichuk's big game bests St. Catharines in 7-4 London win

The London Nationals' Derek Todosichuk had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 7-4 win over the St. Catharines Falcons.

Todosichuk got on the board by slotting home a goal 1:51 into the third period to make the score 5-3 London. Ryan Tuffin provided the assist. Todosichuk dished an assist on Paxton Leroux's goal that made the score 2-2 at 9:08 into the first period. He added another helper on Ryan Wells' goal that made the score 4-2 London at 19:50 into the first period.

St. Catharines' eight penalties came back to haunt it, as the Falcons let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

London surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Nationals average 4.3 goals per contest. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

London also got points from Wells, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Noah Schwartz, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Leroux, who also tallied one goal and one assist. London also got a goal from Blake Thomas as well. More assists for London came via Aaron Dartch, who had four and Lance Pridham and Shawn Crowley, who contributed one a piece.

St. Catharines' offense operated below it season average. The Falcons put an average of 6.6 pucks into the net per game. St. Catharines' defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Falcons give up 2.4 goals per game.

St. Catharines was helped by Luke Karaim, who had one goal and two assists. Karaim scored on the power play 2:43 into the second period to make the score 4-3 London. The Falcons had gained a power play chance when Wells was whistled for tripping. Andy Sturtz picked up the assist. St. Catharines additionally got points from Sturtz, who also registered two goals and one assist. Kyle Woodhouse also scored for St. Catharines. In addition, St. Catharines received assists from Ben Walsh, Greg Jambrosich, Julian Luciani, and Mitch Bennett, who each chipped in one.

London's Taylor Edwards stopped 20 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Nationals ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with nine minors and one major. London ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Leroux was ejected from the game. St. Catharines' starting goalie, Jonathon D Ilario, made 19 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Marcus Del Conte, who stopped three shots. The Falcons totaled 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors and two majors and went 2-for-8 on the power play. Team's Tyler Jackson, Bennett, and Mitch Bursey were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
