Lavrenov's hat trick boosts Port Colborne over Kitchener, 4-2

Dima Lavrenov netted a hat trick to lead the Port Colborne Pirates over the Kitchener Dutchmen, 4-2.

Lavrenov's first goal came 2:37 into the second period. He then added goals at 12:04 into the second and at 17:15 into the third.

Port Colborne pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 26 penalty minutes.

The Pirates excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. Port Colborne kept Kitchener's goalie busy throughout the game, and Marc Williams made 27 saves on 31 shots.

Port Colborne also got a goal from Nick Dagostino as well. In addition, Port Colborne received assists from Ryan Pilon, who had two and Zack Deconilys, Thomas Sestini, DYLAN BURDICK, Dayne Phillips, and Trevor Smith, who each chipped in one.

The Dutchmen forced the Pirates goalie Morgan Hudson to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. Penalties took their toll on Kitchener, as its penalty kill unit let in two power play goals.

The Dutchmen were helped by Matt Pappineau, who had one goal. Pappineau scored 4:10 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Port Colborne. Ryo Kobayashi assisted on the tally. Keli Grant also scored for Kitchener. Other players who recorded assists for Kitchener were Matt Guild, Ned Simpson APJ, and Chris Eckert, who contributed one a piece.

Morgan Hudson made 38 saves for Port Colborne on 40 shots. Kitchener incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. For the Dutchmen, Ty Learn was ejected from the game.
