The Port Colborne Pirates tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Buffalo Jr. Blades would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-3. A goal by Tom Hanna put Buffalo up 5-2 in the third period, but Port Colborne pulled to within two on Pat Murphy's tally 19:15 into the third period. The Jr. Blades got the win thanks to a great game by Hanna, who had two goals and one assist. Hanna scored the first of his two goals at 10:04 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Buffalo. Josh Gordon assisted on the tally. Hanna's next tally made the score Buffalo with 1:36 left in the third period. Tyler Gallagher provided the assist. Buffalo's goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Jr. Blades average 1.9 goal per contest. Colton Anstey also scored for Buffalo. In addition, Buffalo received assists from Dan DeFranco, Nick Berst, Kennedy Monaco, Andrew Herrmann, and Domenic Gruttadauria, who contributed one a piece. The Pirates kept Buffalo's goalie busy throughout the game, and Ian Shorthouse made 57 saves on 60 shots. Port Colborne was helped by Dima Lavrenov, who finished with one goal and one assist. Lavrenov scored 8:47 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Port Colborne. John DiLorenzo assisted on the tally. Port Colborne also got a goal from Zack Deconilys as well. More assists for Port Colborne came via Bryan Komasara, who had one and Dayne Phillips, who had three. The Jr. Blades incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Morgan Hudson made 13 saves for the Pirates on 17 shots. Port Colborne incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
