Chatham blows out St. Marys, 4-1Pyramid Recreation Centre Fri, Nov 02, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The St. Marys Lincolns had trouble finding ways to stop the Chatham Maroons, which beat Lincolns, 4-1. Chatham was led by goalie Darien Ekblad, who finished with 40 saves while allowing one goal. Ekblad certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.03 entering the contest. The Maroons were paced by Drew Marlatt (APM), who racked up one goal. Marlatt (APM) scored 13:22 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Chatham. Eric Palazzolo picked up the assist. Chatham stifled St. Marys' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Chatham also got points from Trevor Richardson, who also registered one goal and one assist and Brayden Hopkins, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Chatham also got a goal from Thomas Eady as well. Other players who recorded assists for Chatham were Jake Flegel, Oliver Blayne, Michael Verboom, and Steven Beenackers, who each chipped in one. The Lincolns did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. St. Marys puts an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game. The Lincolns' offense rang up 41 shots on the Maroons' net. St. Marys was led by Reid Oliver, who scored the team's only goal. Oliver scored 9:39 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Chatham. Mike Siddall assisted on the tally. Chatham incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Devin Golets rejected 25 shots on goal for the Lincolns. St. Marys incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
