Strathroy's Thornton deadly on offense in 5-2 win against Lambton ShoresWest Middlesex Arena Sun, Oct 28, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Chase Thornton was all over the ice for the Strathroy Rockets, as he tallied four goals in Strathroy's 5-2 win over the Lambton Shores Predators. Thornton notched his first tally 1:02 into the first period. He then added goals at 10:56 into the first, at 11:11 into the first, and at 11:27 into the first.The Rockets made Lambton Shores' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, launching 34 shots and forcing 29 saves. Brandon Campbell made four stops and Justin Tugwell made 25. Strathroy stifled the Predators' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Wes Baker also scored for Strathroy. In addition, Strathroy received assists from Jordan DaSilva, Shawn Grogan, Tyler Coleman, and Dalen Kuchmey, who contributed one a piece. Lambton Shores put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Rockets to score on any of their eight power plays. Strathroy was unable to stop the Predators from sending pucks towards the net, and Lambton Shores eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. The Predators were led by Kyle Brothers, who grabbed two goals. Brothers scored the first of his two goals at 4:42 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Brothers' next tally made the score 4-2 Strathroy with 17:16 left in the second period. Adam Arseneault picked up the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Lambton Shores were Ryan Rontondi, who had one. Kuchmey rejected 30 shots on goal for the Rockets. Strathroy incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Lambton Shores incurred 42 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
